I dragged myself in today

I've never been stoned, but I'd imagine this is what it would feel like. I feel dumb as a post and kind of useless, but I'm trying! Stupid cold. I've got stuff to do, so no more days off for me. It's okay, though. I will manage. My throat began getting sore last night, and I still feel exhausted. Hopefully the doctor will help me out today, although more likely he'll tell me it's a virus and I'll end up having to wait until it gets really bad before they do something about it. That's usually what happens. I will ask about the shots, Mom, so don't worry! :)

I'm too out of it to write much more, so instead I will leave you with a picture of Gurgles playing Catch The Ribbon with my sister's dog Kitan (I'm mediating with my hand in the middle), a pit bull-mastiff mix who is sweeter than honey. He is mostly afraid of cats, since my sister's cats hate him, but Widget and Monkey didn't know that and hid under the bed. Gurgles has no fear of anything except thunder, so he sauntered right out and they played together. It was pretty cute.

Blessed Sacrament Church

Hey y'all. Patrick had a gig last Saturday at this church with the Tudor Choir, and I got to tag along. I took a few pictures, and you can see more here.

Musicians assembling. Patrick is rightmost on stage in the picture.
Sorry for the blur. This window was really hard to take a picture of due to the light behind it.

I tried getting a shot of the Christmas tree next to this that you can partly see, but it turned out blurry.

I love all the lit candles. The flickering is hypnotic.
Also, randomly, sunset over Puget Sound last Friday.

Patrick basically gave me a giant rock of crack for Christmas

No, lovelies, not actual crack, but close to it! This beloved man of mine gave me a Kindle Fire. Which is awesome all on its own.

BUT.

Three words for you: Seattle Public Library.

Oh my goodness gracious. Books. Unlimited books. Well, mostly. I do have to place holds on some of them. But holy crap this is the gift that keeps on giving!! You can have up to 25 books out at a time and keep them for up to 3 weeks, not that I'd ever need that much time.

It is a buffet for your brain!

I'm on my first one already. And you don't even have to go to the library in person. You just look online, check them out, and they're downloaded to your Kindle. It's like MAGIC. When the time is up, or if you click Return Book when you're done, they magically delete themselves from your device.

AND IT IS FREE! Free free freeeeeee!

Like I told you: giant rock of crack.

TMI - Joyful KwanzHanakuMas!!

Merry Christmas & Happy TMI Tuesday!

20121224-063826.jpg
1. What is the best thing you received for Christmas?

A purple Schwinn 3-speed bike complete with  banana seat and sissy bar.  As a 12 year-old it opened the world to me and I rode it everywhere.

2. What is the best gift you gave for Christmas?

An autographed copy of "The Chosen" and "The Promise" by Chaim Potok, my mom's favorite author and her two favorite books.  When she passed away, those were the first two things I wanted back, and they sit on my shelf today.

3. What is your Christmas wish?

At home.....
For my boy:  Continued joy in just being a hilarious 7 year old.

For D2 (13yo):  fewer tears over being a teenage girl, the knowledge that she's wonderful though she feels awkward & lost at times, the courage to audition for the lead even if she ends up in the chorus, and better taste clothes, at least less reliance on velor.

For D1 (16):   Understanding that the dissolution of "the group" isn't the end of the world, that her true friends will always be there (as will her mom & dad, even if she doesn't want us there), the courage to compete for Varsity and the guts to get there, the understanding that pursing art (hard, challenging, stressful) will be better for her than going in to teaching, that college will be amazing, that boys can wait, and that a hug from her mom really is about the best thing ever.

For my Wife:  Less Stress over the little things, hope that things will work out even if you don't try to control them, an increased libido because you find joy in cumming, not out of duty, fewer worries over her brothers and sisters (they are crazy, but its not her job to save/fix/protect them anymore), more time to scrapbook, less time spent cleaning, more peace and the ability to see that each day really is a blessing.

For me:  I just want a better camera.

4. What are you plans for New Year’s Eve?

Wife and I will be celebrating with date night at our favorite Mexican place on Saturday night because on New Year's Eve I will be rocking the night away with 500 teenagers at a community celebration complete DJ's, photo booths, bad attempts at groping, a couple of kids getting kicked out for bringing beer, and way to many M&Ms.  PARTY ON!!

Bonus: The end of the world aka the Mayan apocalypse did not occur on 12/21/2012. Nonetheless people across the world prepared for the doomsday event. How did you prepare for the end of the world?

I have 175 gallons of water in big blue barrels, a couple of shelves of canned Tuna, corn, soup, and lots of books and candles for when the power goes out.  I figure I'm good for the first month of the apocalypse. My daughter watches "Bones" constantly and I used to watch "House" so we are good on the medical front.  I'm an ex-Boy Scout so I can save the world by boiling water and tying knots, and by describing the pros & cons of a bicameral legislative body.  My wife can document the descent of man through lovely scrapbook pages with edge decor and 3d mounting effects, and my son can grow up to be a mad-max style overlord armed with Nerf guns and spinning Bakugan fighters.  And yes, he has enough Legos to build an ark in case the flood waters reach our neighborhood again.  Other than that, we are screwed.

Merry Christmas everyone!!!

Candy Cane Lane

Candy Cane Lane is a street in Seattle's Ravenna neighborhood that does a spectacular job of decorating every year. We like walking through it instead of driving, since that way you can really take your time and not worry about cars backing up behind you. Plus you have a much easier time taking pictures. Here are the ones from this year:

The carousel in the middle rotates around the big shrub.

The moonglow through these bare trees with ornaments was just lovely

Bit fuzzy, sorry about that.

I loved these lights in the bushes so much, I had to take two pictures!

Aww.

FFF 12-21-12 - Christmas Celebrations!

Merry Christmas My FFFFFs
(Fellow Flash Fiction Friday Fanatics)

It's too late now, but I guess we should have gone for the "End of the World" theme to celebrate the Mayan Calendar ending sometime this afternoon.  But, I'm in more of a Christmas mood than a "sell my possessions and sit on the mountain top" kind of mood.

I had fun writing all three of these.  I hope you did too.  I'm putting the links up top this week because my #3 is written in verse, it's too long, and would push your wonderful names to far down the page to ever see the light of day.   And remember, it's never to late to add your entry!!  Hours, Days, Weeks later, if the mood strikes, WRITE!!

This weeks' challenge was:

Prompt Word = Unexpected
Word Count = 200 (same as my Christmas budget)
Extra Credit = Use more than one picture...

And here are all the wonderful players!!

The cold wind swirled around the pillars of the train station and down the back of his coat. His bare fingers, wrapped around the briefcase handle, froze and he cursed himself for losing his gloves. He walked home in the dark, the severance notice in his pocket, and the overdrawn credit cards in his wallet. The snow crunched underneath his thin soled shoes and the gray slush slid between his sock and the cheap leather and he felt it pool under his instep, creating a cold puddle that chilled his soul. The layoff had not been completely unexpected, but the timing could not have been worse. What kind of cold-hearted bastards layoff 200 people the Monday before Christmas?

He thought about his wife, the disappointment that would drip from every word, the look in her eyes, and the tone in her body language. He knew a different job would come along soon, but the attitude would always be the same.

He thought about his wife as he trudged up the stairs to the four-story walk-up, and he started to smile. Home could wait, bad news could wait, he had a tree to decorate and an unwrapped gift waiting for him. (200/200)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
She stood tall, trying to keep her back straight in the weight off her wrists as she hummed a little Christmas song that she learned as a child. She loved Christmas time, the tinsel, the bows, the short little plaid skirts and the nipple clamps that twinkled in the snow. She giggled to herself as she shifted her weight on her high-heeled shoes. She stood quietly waiting, doing what he had commanded her to do, to stand there and be pretty.
She heard the door open downstairs and her giggle changed to a sigh. She clenched inside, the anticipation was the most delicious part, and her arousal, the intensity of her arousal, was always a bit unexpected. She heard his voice at the bottom of the landing, and clenched again and allowed a small orgasm to tremble through her pelvis, dance around the small of her back, race up her spine, wrap around her chest making her nipples stand erect and escape out through her throat with a wispy gasp.
He invited them all to come upstairs.  She looked around the room and caught the eyes of the other decorations, shared a smile, then stood tall. Yes, she loved Christmas. (200/200)
‘Twas the night before Christmas
Alone in the house
Nothing was stirring
She sat like a mouse.
The man in the suit
Just stood there and stared.
As his sweet little something
Knealt and prepared.
The riding crop glistened
And his boots were so black
She hoped on her hiney
That crop he would crack.
She added the collar
To her Christmas list
And now the long chain
Was held in his fist.
She quivered and groaned
While the fire was merry
She hoped as a gift
He’d take her sweet cherry.
Naughty or nice?
He said with a wink,
The forced her to crawl
And make him a drink.
He slurped down the eggnog
The disgusting old drink
But of his thick jism,
It did make her think.
Was Ms. Clause serviced
While riding the sled?
Or did he have elves
For giving him head.
She hoped he would give her
Wrists tied in a bow
Then blowing his load
Up the chimney he’d go.
He tugged on the chain
Made her whimper and moan
“Don’t make horny Santa,
Do Christmas alone”
She crawled to his lap
But his pants were too tight
“If we can’t get them off,
It will be a long night.
She giggled and fiddled
With his big silver buckle
While he reached down between
And rubbed with a knuckle.
“Oh my, you are wet,
You really are ready.
But he was a noodle,
Like real bad spaghetti.
Come on Dear old Santa
Don’t let it be so
Then she had an idea,
She’d give it a go.
The collar was tight
On the old fat man’s neck
But when they were done
The place was a wreck.
She love the tall boots
And the crop in her hand
Who would have thought
That she’d be the man.
She whipped him
And beat him
And called him
By name
And when she abused him
He finally came.
She unleashed the collar
To his team gave a whistle
And she realized his dick
Tasted something like gristle.
Christmas for her
Was never the same
And when she was horny
She called out his name.
Beware what you wish for.
But it’s nice to be naughty
‘Specially when you
Are the Christmas tale hottie.
FFF - Christmas Prompt 12-21-12
So many choices.....  I've been thinking about a holiday post, something Christmas/Holiday oriented, because, believe me, there's not a lot of Hanukkah porn. I checked. I know that this time of year is busy for everyone but I hope you will find some time to write a naughty little something to keep our holiday spirit hard in our hearts.  :-)
I decided to give you a gift of my own.  You get to choose from three of my favorite Christmas Pictures, but, the prompt and word count are the same for all three!
Prompt Word = Unexpected
Word Count = 200 (same as my Christmas budget)
Extra Credit = Use more than one picture...
My post will go up on Friday morning at 12:01 AM California Time
Vaccinate ALL THE PEOPLE!
This was at my local pharmacy when we went to pick up our prescriptions yesterday:
Amen. I miss you, Allie Brosh (whose art that is).
Patrick will be out Friday evening auditing The Nutcracker (put on by the Pacific Northwest Ballet), which he will be playing on Saturday, so I will take the opportunity to finish off the last gasp of my Christmas shopping. All that remains are some stocking stuffers and gifts for Patrick and my brother-in-law. I kind of hate buying stocking stuffers because it is so hard to get something that isn't tacky and cheap but will fit in a stocking (no ski poles) and won't make you poor (diamond jewelry). And one can only have so much lotion. I mean, I enjoy lotion. But I don't want to fill someone's stocking with it. Or, like, plastic barrettes. Sigh.
Hopefully ideas will come to me as I shop. A girl can hope.
Pretty pictures to end the week
I don't know about you, but this week has been pretty stressful for me. (Some of you have had far worse weeks than I, and you have my sincerest sympathies.) I was turning lights off last night as we prepared for bed, and was reminded of how much I love the look of Christmas trees lit up in the darkness, so I took a few pictures.
I don't remember where I got this flower thingy, but I like it.
We have two presents!
I like this picture better. Maybe. Different filter.
My favorite ornament from when I was a little girl. My great-grandmother made it.
Just a closeup of the tree. We have beads, too!
Ceiling of the Pantages theater in Tacoma where I attended Patrick's dress rehearsal for the Tacoma Symphony's Sounds of the Season concert. I thought it was pretty.
Update
Sorry for the lack of posting. I've been so busy at work and so tired from this Lexapro that I pretty much go to bed right after dinner when we get home at night. Doesn't leave a whole lot of time for thinking up posts, alas. To J in WY and R in TX, both with birthdays this month, your presents have shipped! Hopefully they will arrive in time for your special days. If they do not show up by then, please let me know and I'll see what's going on. I will try to get the Christmas gifts out soon as well.
I had a terrible dream last night. Gurgles kept turning into my poor passed away kitty, Truck. Every time he'd transform, my heart would just break, and I was the only one who could see the transformation. Patrick and my parents were around, but they couldn't see it. I remember crying and screaming from grief, saying that since they couldn't see it, I must be hallucinating and was going mad. I must have dreamed that I ripped a chunk of my gums out as well, because I couldn't remember today if that had actually happened or not, and asked Patrick because it seemed so real, but I can't feel a wound in my mouth. He says that was a dream, so I guess it was. I woke up inside the dream, unable to escape, and finally woke up for real. Horrid dream. I hate the emotionally exhausting ones. I'd rather have the gore. Maybe tonight will be more peaceful.
