Merry Christmas & Happy TMI Tuesday!

1. What is the best thing you received for Christmas?

A purple Schwinn 3-speed bike complete with  banana seat and sissy bar.  As a 12 year-old it opened the world to me and I rode it everywhere.

2. What is the best gift you gave for Christmas?

An autographed copy of "The Chosen" and "The Promise" by Chaim Potok, my mom's favorite author and her two favorite books.  When she passed away, those were the first two things I wanted back, and they sit on my shelf today.

3. What is your Christmas wish?

At home.....
For my boy:  Continued joy in just being a hilarious 7 year old.

For D2 (13yo):  fewer tears over being a teenage girl, the knowledge that she's wonderful though she feels awkward & lost at times, the courage to audition for the lead even if she ends up in the chorus, and better taste clothes, at least less reliance on velor.

For D1 (16):   Understanding that the dissolution of "the group" isn't the end of the world, that her true friends will always be there (as will her mom & dad, even if she doesn't want us there), the courage to compete for Varsity and the guts to get there, the understanding that pursing art (hard, challenging, stressful) will be better for her than going in to teaching, that college will be amazing, that boys can wait, and that a hug from her mom really is about the best thing ever.

For my Wife:  Less Stress over the little things, hope that things will work out even if you don't try to control them, an increased libido because you find joy in cumming, not out of duty, fewer worries over her brothers and sisters (they are crazy, but its not her job to save/fix/protect them anymore), more time to scrapbook, less time spent cleaning, more peace and the ability to see that each day really is a blessing.

For me:  I just want a better camera.

4. What are you plans for New Year’s Eve?

Wife and I will be celebrating with date night at our favorite Mexican place on Saturday night because on New Year's Eve I will be rocking the night away with 500 teenagers at a community celebration complete DJ's, photo booths, bad attempts at groping, a couple of kids getting kicked out for bringing beer, and way to many M&Ms.  PARTY ON!!

Bonus: The end of the world aka the Mayan apocalypse did not occur on 12/21/2012. Nonetheless people across the world prepared for the doomsday event. How did you prepare for the end of the world?

I have 175 gallons of water in big blue barrels, a couple of shelves of canned Tuna, corn, soup, and lots of books and candles for when the power goes out.  I figure I'm good for the first month of the apocalypse. My daughter watches "Bones" constantly and I used to watch "House" so we are good on the medical front.  I'm an ex-Boy Scout so I can save the world by boiling water and tying knots, and by describing the pros & cons of a bicameral legislative body.  My wife can document the descent of man through lovely scrapbook pages with edge decor and 3d mounting effects, and my son can grow up to be a mad-max style overlord armed with Nerf guns and spinning Bakugan fighters.  And yes, he has enough Legos to build an ark in case the flood waters reach our neighborhood again.  Other than that, we are screwed.

Merry Christmas everyone!!!
