Happy Divorcing Day!

This is the first Valentine's Day that has nothing to do with the Ex since 2001. Valentine's Days from 2002 to 2008 were spent pretending that there would be some kind of nice celebration. Sometimes we'd go to dinner, but when money's tight and the relationship isn't that great anyway, it's hard to celebrate.

I suppose I could be discouraged today, but instead, I feel recharged. I can be happy for my life as it is now and for the layers upon layers of lies that have been lifted. Valentine's Day in the past has been a holiday on which I grimaced and tried to be happy, despite my reality.

This year, my reality is happy. I am smiling, and I mean it.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Nice post. I just read it today, and am hoping that you're doing well... it's been a month. I hope you had a great St. Patrick's Day.

I also really liked your Selena/Gloria Gaynor post on aging. Getting old blows.
